░ I dare you to tell me to walk through the fire [06 Dec 2028|05:02am]
Asher D. Price is living in perpetual teenage rebellion, stuck in his hometown of Brooklyn, NY. Smoking, getting tattoos and piercings, sleeping around, drinking, kissing boys, he's done it all to try and get a negative reaction. He hasn't always been this way, thankfully for his parents. He was born the second and last child of Howard and Marie Price, on July 6th, 1983 and he was actually a well behaved kid until he turned about 12. His father was a successful businessman, and for the most part his mother was a stay at home mom, although she did have a nursing degree that she put to good use for the 10 years or so before her children were born. The Prices instilled strong values in their children, letting them know that education was the most important experience someone could put themselves through. Asher's sister Julia, older by 4 years, has followed those guidelines impeccably, embarking on the long journey a few states over to become a psychologist right after she finished high school.

It seemed like she could do no wrong in their parents' eyes, and Asher was left with a distinct lack of attention from them, pushing him to act up in every way he found possible. It started pretty small, he would exclude himself from family activities or discussions. Then, Asher would start disturbing class, before he started skipping them altogether. He picked up smoking that same year, and hasn't been able (nor wanting to) quit ever since. Two years later, at 14, he lost his virginity to a girl he never bothered to remember the name of, as she was the labeled outcast from some of his classes. He was discreet with most of the things he would do though, which was curious for someone who wanted the attention, and his parents never found out about most of the things he did. That was, until he turned 16 and was working toward obtaining his license, something most of the kids in the neighborhood didn't bother with all that much because public transport was basically the best thing around. It didn't take too long before he got it, and the next year was spent working at a low paying fast food joint so he could buy himself a cheap car to get away from Brooklyn for good, which he did... sort of.

All of the careers he could learn from in school did not interest him, he wanted to smoke up, get trashed, rock out and get paid for it. In other words, he wanted to tour the country playing shady bars and living in his car. He didn't have high dreams to live up to to begin with, but it didn't take too long for Asher to realize that the money wasn't coming in at all, and the next time he was even able to afford gas (trading a few good meals for that), he decided to come back home instead. The thing with Asher pursuing a musical career was that even though he traveled with his guitar - which, considering he was self taught, he wasn't all that bad at - and liked to perform acoustic and slower versions of popular rock and punk songs, he wasn't exactly the best thing ever. Years of smoking cigarettes, screaming, and drinking liquor made his voice raw, but not exactly in the good way, and it wasn't like he had any natural talent either. He was just all right, and nothing to write home about.

As soon as he got back home though, being 18 of age, he instantly started looking for places to move into, out of his parents' house, but never too far. In the process, he had to pick up a couple of dead end jobs to afford living, and over the years, he has collected them like baseball cards. Every time he would get caught causing trouble (oftentimes including cigarettes in the building and girls) at any given job though, he would find himself in too much debt to continue to live on his own, constantly ending up at his parents'. They handled Ashed with maturity, although always avoiding having to face the problems in their boy's life. So, Asher just repeated the same mistakes over and over. This time around though, still playing some local bars during off times at his day job and having his own roof over his head, he thinks he might be able to keep making ends meet, especially ever since he found a roommate to share the costs with.

random facts

His full name is Asher Dwight Price, his middle name coming from his grandpa on his mother's side, but will never reveal what the d. actually stands for, thinking it sounds too geeky.

Is 28 years of age, even though basically, he's eternally a 13 years old boy.

Has lived in Brooklyn all of his life, barely ever traveling (and definitely never out of the country).

Likes to dish out and say exactly what he thinks, but usually can't take it in return.

Has not been able to hold a lasting relationship for more than weeks at a time since he's too immature and unfaithful. In fact, he knows he's never had a stable girlfriend, but likes to blame it on his rockstar lifestyle.

Considers himself straight, but has been known to make out with random guys when intoxicated enough. He's even exchanged handjobs in bathroom stalls with faceless guys he would never ask the name of, but will never ever discuss that in the open.

Has worked at all of the fast food places possible and a handful of stores, but his favorite jobs to date have been in a record store (obviously) and in a punk clothing store.

Thinks he's hot shit at this music thing, mostly because he knows that deep down, there is nothing else he is good at.

Rock is almost all he listens too, although all types (from classic rock, alternative, heavy, to punk rock), and not because of his parents' influences, but again as his way to rebel against their classical tastes.

Immediately thinks less of people who like rap music, but will incorporate rap bits into his covers like a big hypocrite, just for shits and giggles and because he can. The Linkin Park mash ups and the punk goes crunk albums are his secret guilty pleasure.

Has piercings in places no one wants to know (10 so far; both ears, both nipples, ring in left nostril, stud in right nostril, frenulum, ear cartilage, and two in left eyebrow) and a few tattoos (on his back with the title line from "Pour Some Sugar On Me" above it, "JERK" on the small of his back like a tramp stamp, on his left shoulder and right shoulder) with no decipherable meaning behind them, but the most important one to him is of his mother's name on his chest, on the left side.

Resents his dad for being so into his job all the time, and his sister for leaving so far away for school, but his mother was a little bit more available, therefore she is like the only family he has left to him. Still doesn't treat any of them with respect, though.

Has no problem with nudity, and is often found with his shirt off out and about, and with nothing at all in his own apartment, but usually he will have some respect for his roommate and put on some boxers. Usually being the key word.

Ever since his sister has found domestic bliss with a loving husband, a stable job, and a son not even a full year ago, she has been more involved in her brother's life, befriending the people that he swore not to care about and supporting them through Asher's emotional and mental abuse.
